What you'll do

  1. 8:30am

    Pickup from your Havelock resort

    Air-conditioned van to Vijaynagar Beach.

  2. 9:00am

    Safety briefing and equipment fitting

    Breathing technique, hand signals, equalisation. The most important part of the day.

  3. 10:00am

    Boat to Elephant Beach

    Fifteen-minute ride. Some travellers feel mild motion. Eat a light breakfast.

  4. 10:30am

    Dive: 30 minutes underwater

    One instructor per diver, maximum depth ten metres. The most-photographed part of the day.

  5. 12:00pm

    Return to shore, photos and video on USB

    Hand the USB over before you leave. Free wifi if you want to upload anything.

  6. 1:30pm

    Drop back to your resort

First-time scuba, felt completely safe the whole time

I cannot swim well so I was nervous going in. The instructor was one-to-one for the entire dive, very calm, walked me through every step before we got in the water. We saw a sea turtle on the way back up which I did not expect. Photos and video were on the USB by the time I got back to the hotel.

Frequently asked

Do I need to know how to swim?+
Basic comfort in water helps. It is not strictly required for Discover Scuba because you are with an instructor at all times and the buoyancy device keeps you afloat. If you are scared of water, the sea-walk is a better option.
Will I get certified?+
No. Discover Scuba is an introductory experience. For PADI Open Water certification, which is a four-day program at around ₹22,000, book that separately.
What if it's raining?+
Light rain is fine. The dive happens regardless. Heavy rain or rough seas mean we cancel and offer a full refund or reschedule.
Can I do this if I have a cold?+
No. You will not be able to equalise your ears and the dive will be painful. If you have a doctor's note saying you cannot dive, we refund in full.
